Q&A

What form of exercise do you teach?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

Vinyasa Yoga with a focus on simple moving meditation, joint mobility and fascial release.

What does your exercise do for you - outside and inside?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

Exercise shows up for me in a lot of different ways. From practicing yoga to having a catch with my kiddo, what it does for me is get me back into my body. When my thoughts have me feeling stressed or anxious, focused movement really grounds me and helps me face challenges from a firm footing.

What is your favorite inspirational or motivational quote?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

I have so many! One that really resonates with where we are as a society right now is from Ram Das.”Treat everyone you meet like God in drag.” I love it because of its sense of humor and complex truth! Everyone you meet is a divine being, sometimes we have to look past the exterior to see that truth. And then hold the mirror up and do the same for ourselves.

What's your favorite reggae song? What does it mean to you?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

I’m currently in love with the Skip Marley song, Faith. It’s an anthem really, for when you’re questioning life or when things aren’t quite going your way. We have the power to trust in the “one heartbeat” and “have the willingness to try.”

What does nature mean to you? How does it inspire you?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

I basically grew up in the woods in Massachusetts but I’ve lived in NYC for 30 years now and I crave the woods sometimes. Nature inspires me with its beauty and harshness, its ability to adapt and to evolve.

How can our natural world help bring people closer to their true natures?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

I see myself as nature and nature as me. I can never be separated from it because it is me. If we recognize this, we recognize that we cannot be separate from each other.

How can exercise make us stronger human beings, better able to connect with others and embrace everyone's right to thrive?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

The more embodied we are, the more grounded, the more we can rationally listen to how others may be experiencing the world differently. Once we have that kind of compassion it becomes much more difficult to cause others harm.

Why is it important for us to connect with other human beings?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

It’s how we thrive! Humans are built to live in community.

What does the phrase "One World, One Love" mean to you?

Sarah Yoga at OneFirelight

It means we aren’t merely connected but we are a unified energy. When we tap into the love that exists as our essential nature we become aware of our part in the unified energy.

In a universe of exercise platforms, what makes OneFirelight special?
